Michaela Brunner
Technical Expert Mechanical Engineering

With EBNER Industrieofenbau since September, 2001.

My career began with an internship as a technical draftswoman in 2001. I later moved through the roles of a design engineer, component group manager for parts and on up to project engineer.

After completing my internship I continued my education, passing my vocational exams (Berufsreifeprüfung) and completing an evening mechanical engineering program at an HTL (höhere technische Lehranstalt, Austrian technical college). I also completed a wide variety of courses that were subsidized by EBNER.

Describe your job in a single sentence:

My work can be broadly separated into two parts. I carry out design work using 2D/3D software, and also manage projects in a field in which women are unfortunately still rare.

When you are on your way to work in the morning, what are you looking forward to?

I particularly like the fact that there aren’t repetitive tasks related to my job. At times I have to suddenly adjust to new tasks and challenges. That can be strenuous, but it is also very exciting and I have great colleagues that are enjoyable to work with.

What was the most interesting experience you have had at EBNER?

I’ve experienced a lot at work, but traveling throughout the world and meeting with customers should definitely be counted among the most interesting things.

Everyone needs inspiration and motivation to get through the daily grind. What keeps you going?

I am always happy to see our products being used by a satisfied customer. It’s then that I know that I and my colleagues from every department have done our work well. Sure, everything doesn’t always come up roses. Fixing errors and responding to problems obviously makes up a part of our daily workload, but this is what helps us grow and develop.

What vision do you have for EBNER’s future? From your point of view, what are the greatest challenges the company will have to face over the next few years?

In my opinion, the challenge will be to recruit and train new colleagues to replace the large number of people who will retire over the next few years.

Continuing development and rebuilding existing facilities to employ renewable energy will also be necessary to fulfill market demands regarding climate change, sustainability and digitalization. Interesting times are coming our way, but I am certain that we are are on the right path and will stay on it.

Do you have any special hobbies or interests?

My hobbies include working creatively in a wide variety of media, traveling with my husband and my horse.

What advice would you give someone who wanted to apply for a job at EBNER?

EBNER is a great company that does not just stand for quality: it also employs great people. Working at EBNER is fun, and at the same time you get the change to build a solid future. If you join us, you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere, flexibility and the chance to work independently on interesting projects.
